Baviero III's Female Lines

by Donna DeYoung, breeder of Pure Spanish Andalusian Horses for sale

This is one of several articles relating to Hosco 1960, the sire of Baviero III. Baviero III goes back to Bilbaino III (foundation stallion for the Cardenas breeding program) via his sire's dam. Baviero III was bred by Senorio de Sierra Brava S.A. in 1974.  Our mare Keberes D traces to Baviero III by Hosco 1960.

Baviera, Dam of Baviero III.

Baviero’s dam, Baviera, was a daughter of Zurito VIII (Terry). Baviera was bred by Senorio de Sierra Brava, S.A. in 1955. She had 13 offspring and 25 siblings. Baviera goes back to four major lines: Generoso, Zurita II, Baturro and Oficiala IV. The majority of these lines trace back to Emboscado, Coronel, and Solo I – early Hierro del Bocado stallions. Emboscado was a bay Hierro del Bocado stallion who won 1st place in Seville in 1908 and also in Jerez in 1910.

Baviera's sire, Zurito VIII, was one of the horses that the Terry farm acquired in 1947 from Don Francisco Chica Navarro.

Hosca 1953, grand-dam of Baviero III

Hosco 1960’s dam, Hosca 1953, was a daughter of the famous Bilbaino III. Bilbaino III was the founding stallion of the Cardenas lineage of horses and sire of Vasallo II and Valido.

Hosca 1953 gave birth to 5 foals: Hosco II, Hosco III, Hosco IV, and Hosco V (all sired by Nevado III) and Hosco 1960 (sired by Descarado II).
