Galaxia was born in 2006 in Denton, Texas.  After watching Keberes all night to see her have her foal, I left to meet some friends at a nearby dressage barn. I got the call around 11:00 am that morning that Keberes had foaled in the pasture. Everything was fine and I arrived to find a coal black filly with a large white star and huge, long legs. She had a glistening coat and I knew she was bound to be a "star".

I consider Galaxia to be one of Keberes' best foals ever! She is Keberes' 6th foal, her  5th filly in a row, and the 3rd filly sired by Remate.

Galaxia is a sweet mare, incredibly smart and quick to learn, and loves attention. Galaxia likes to greet me at the gate with a nicker.

Galaxia will be bred in 2009 for her first purebred Spanish foal to be born in 2010. Contact us if you are interested in a custom-breeding and purchasing the resultant foal. Galaxia is not for sale.

Galaxia's Name

Galaxia was born in a "G" year.  My Andalusian foals are usually named according to the year they are born in ... "A" names started in 2000 and "G" names came in 2006. Galaxia is Spanish for Galaxy. Galaxy is a Greek word meaning "milky" referring to the Milky Way. A galaxy is a  massive gravitationally bound system consisting of stars, an interstellar medium of gas and dust, and dark matter. Galaxia DD was a huge filly and since she was born with a star on her forehead and black-as-night, the name seemed very apt for her.

Galaxia's Genetics

Galaxia is currently a Greying Black. Her genotype per UC Davis is Ee aa and means that she is base color black. She can produce grey foals and possibly bay, black, or chestnut. Galaxia has dark points on her face and legs and a unique flaxen/silver mane. She was born black with a white star and stayed mostly black as a yearling. As a two year old, she is starting to grey out and still has a striking flaxen/silver mane.  Both Galaxia's parents are grey.

Galaxia is the 3rd daughter in a row of 4 daughters born to Keberes D and Remate. The first daughter, Destinada DD, was crowned National Champion Spanish Junior Mare at IALHA Nationals and is owned by Terri Meador of Herradura Andalusians. Destinada DD just foaled out a superb colt sired by Gitano MOR - one of the best colts that anyone has seen by Gitano.  The next daughter was Fantasia DD, also owned by Herradura Andalusians.  Fantasia DD is really beautiful and as a 3-yr old she seems to be already reaching well over 16 hds. Both Destinada DD and Fantasia DD have been approved for breeding by ANCCE-LG/Spain. Galaxia was born after Fantasia DD and then Hechicera DD was born in 2007. Hechicera DD is owned by Juan Espinoza and lives in Minnesota.
